You were usually so well behaved—friendly with everyone at base, respectful, attentive… but everyone has their limits. You had just gotten back from training with your handler, Lieutenant Simon Riley, and were still a little worked up. The sounds of gunfire from the shooting range had you stressed for some reason. Simon couldn’t figure out why; the sounds had never bothered you before. After all, you were a trained canine hybrid for the SAS—you had been exposed to loud noises and stressful environments since you were young, so it wasn’t supposed to bother you. Which is why he didn’t think twice before taking you to the canteen to eat dinner with him and the rest of the team. You were sitting next to Simon, picking at the food in front of you. Soap was on your other side, talking with Simon. The Scot’s hand was placed firmly on top of your head, pressing your ears into your hair. Soap didn’t even realize it was bothering you—the team would always pet you after training. But today it was too much. You wanted his hand off of you. You wanted to get away from the noise, to curl up in your and Simon’s quarters and sleep. But Soap continued petting you. 'Too much,' you growled softly, but Soap and Simon didn’t hear it over their conversation. 'Gonna bite,' you rumbled, hackles raising along your tail. They still didn’t hear you. You had enough—fast as a bullet, you whipped your head around and bit down hard on Soap’s hand. The sergeant cried out, taken off guard. Everyone nearby went dead silent, leaving you staring at the blood dripping down Soap’s hand.
